Title: Thrill Ride
Author: Rachel Hawthorne, Jan Nowasky
Pages: 297

Since I really like Love on the Lifts, I decided to try another Rachel Hawthorne’s book, so I decided to try Thrill Ride. Plus the cover is so cute who wouldn’t want to read that and expect an equally cutesy love story.

The story takes place in an amusement park called Thrill Ride (hence the title). Megan wanted to leave the wedding drama in her house so she decides to take the job away from her home. The downside of it, she is leaving her boyfriend behind. In the park, she met Parker her roommate’s brother. Parker likes her even though she said that she already has a boyfriend. And since she wanted to make her long distance relationship work, she’s trying to shove Parker out. But Parker is very insistent and even contended to just being friends. But Megan can’t deny she is attracted to him. But she wanted to make her relationship with Nick works.

I preferred this one more than Love on the Lifts, first I adore Parker; he is nice and very sweet. I didn’t know he was her roommate’s brother, like Megan I thought she is one of (maybe not boyfriend, just a fling) Jordan’s friend. I really find Parker’s phone flirting funny, in the third person point of view it is funny but a first hand experience? Not really. I hate those phone calls of a stranger trying to flirt with you on the phone. They thought its romantic, hell not! It’s super creepy. Besides, in the book, Parker has an idea who she might be and the chances of meeting her face to face is very likely. Parker stand so much in the book (for me) even though it was Megan’s point of view, his character is really nice. I love how helpful he is to Megan and also to his sister. I find it cheesy (and the same time romantic too) when he pursue her and so honest about her feelings to her. I didn’t find it disrespectful to her current relationship while he might be honest with his feelings to Megan, he’s still, well, pretty restrained.

There’s something really refreshing and nice with Rachel Hawthorne’s books and this book is one of those. I’m beginning to like her writing style (witty and romantic) so expect more of her books landing in here on my blog.
