Hey you, yes, you! I’ve got a secret to tell: my book blog (which has morphed into what it is now) was created in October, but this blog started way before that! I installed WordPress in July of 2010… I actually started Skye Station in July! Back then, I talked about drama (both TV and life, LOL), anime, manga, and sometimes books. But when books began to dominate the content of what was supposed to be my personal blog, I decided to scrap everything and turn it into a book review blog. And that’s why I honor October as my blogging anniversary!

I think the reason I ended up celebrating my book blog’s birthday, as opposed to the original installation date, is because that’s when I really started getting engrossed in blogging. I used to blog almost every day back then (since I read one book a day—sometimes two! Now you know how I got this massive burnout!). Over the years, I drifted back toward my blog’s original purpose but decided to elevate it a bit. Now, I feel like a real blogger, unlike back then when I clumsily and awkwardly wrote my thoughts, nervous about who might read them! Now, I’m free to write whatever floats through my mind!

I guess it helped that everything is now organized (by my own standards, heh~), and that I understand WordPress much better compared to when I first started. I also think my content today is stronger (AGAIN, subjective, you guys! I know I still struggle with writing, and my tenses are all over the place—I’m working on it, albeit painfully slowly…). When it was a personal blog, it had no real direction. In retrospect, it was a good thing that I scrapped everything and rebranded. Even though I usually advocate keeping posts for archival purposes, I think a sort of restart was exactly what I needed back then!

But I don’t want to forget that day in July when I decided, “I want to blog.” “It doesn’t matter what I write; I’m just going to speak my mind.” Those were the thoughts that pushed me to install WordPress and create my blog! That’s where it really started for me. That was the starting line for someone like me who’s always cautious, who loves to plan but rarely follows through. I’m happy that I went for it! That one day in July was memorable; it’s not the official blog anniversary I celebrate, but it’s another blog birthday worth mentioning—worthy of this whole post!
