I received an eARC from Harlequin Teen via Netgalley. Thank you.

This book was nearly epic but there are personal based minor shortcomings which all related to my favorite character: Kanin. I’m not going to hide my undying love to Allison’s sire. The reason I was pretty excited is because she’ll finally search for him and save him from the clutches of his evil abductor, Sarren. But the road to get there is tough. And whether you’ll interpret as misfortune or luck when she got unlikely ally in Jackal. And of course there is this amazing turn of events, which are completely interesting that hooked from the first page to shocking epilogue. Let me tell you peeps as vaguely as possible: I did not see that coming.

I was super excited for Allison to freed Kanin. But it took a while before he finally made an appearance (minus the connection with him and Allison). For the first half, we only got a glimpse on what’s happening to him via Allison unconscious state.  She dreams about him and she saw his awful condition. She needs to find him fast. And this is where things are quite interesting although I do want to complain on how long it took her to find him. But as I said the path was treacherous one. But still I was kinda disappointed (like a little kid that didn’t get her new toy) that it was so long and when they found him, he’s been under harsh treatment. I won’t go into details. But it’s pretty apparent now that my shipping is not the fruitful one. The bond they have is obviously that of parent and a child, which bums me until now. But my love for Kanin still remains. He’s just awesome despite the things and the treatment that has happened to him.

Allison search for Kanin reflects more as an obligation rather sincere thought of his welfare. Maybe she does want him safe. But it was triggered by their blood bond. And it was quite obvious who holds her heart. I do like Zeke, he’s a great guy. I was surprised that he made an appearance earlier than expect, much earlier than Kanin. And now he’s not hiding his feelings for her. And he’s embracing her, vampire and all. It’s cute but it sad because I don’t root for this pair. And the epilogue shows that it is more possible than ever for them to have a relationship. Though she must now question his loyalty. If what has happened affected him—or worst changed him completely.

The Eternity Cure is no doubt a fulfilling sequel to her massive huge hit The Immortal Rules. I’m snatching just one star to its almost perfect rating because I feel a little dissatisfied. Ok, maybe it was unfair that I rated it one notch lower because of pure selfish reason. But Julie Kagawa delivers what she does best—amazing story with well fleshed-out characters. Jackal for instance had me in a much fluctuated mood. I’ve been deceived by this guy. I doubt him, then believed him, felt betrayed and back to believing him again.  See, that’s how convincing these characters are. And there’s more where it came from. I assure you there are plenty of awesome things to forward to.
