I think I deserve a pat in the back, or chocolates, or candy and confetti!! Because guys, I DID IT! I finished this book—and it was a horrible reading experience. Not to be mean or anything (that’s not really my thing), but the reviewers were right it was truly not a good book.

I kinda have a vague idea of what I’m about to read. I already set my mind that this book would be awful… but dear mercy that was an understatement. Definitely an understatement. It was much awful than I thought. I’m type of person who look on the bright side, but sheesh this book test my patience. Sometimes inquisitiveness doesn’t pay off. I surely did learn my lesson here.

It’s amazing how this book managed to elicit strong negative emotions out of me. Did you know how tired my eyes from frequent eye rolling? Very. But can’t help it. Everything in this book is just not my liking (to put it mildly). Yes, people were right, it shouldn’t be categorize as YA. Sure, main characters here are teenagers but the premise of this book was very mature (when I say mature, I didn’t mean logical. This book is far from it). It was sex, and sex, some drugs (pots, cracks, take your pick), and little bit of ghost story all wrapped in a deceiving book cover in an equally deceiving category. I’m not bothered by sex scenes mind you, but I’m bothered how it was executed. Yes, some teens are in wrong direction of their lives. If the author is trying to convey a “message” here, well, it surely is not working! Besides, they’re giving good teenagers a bad name! And pretty sure they’re still plenty of ‘em!

Hey, what’s the book all about, you ask? If you read a summary it’s a ghost story. Sounds fantastic right? That’s what I thought. But summary and book cover can be deceiving. And this one is a great example of that.

No, really, what is it all about, aside from the sex? Here: (because it is useless for me to write a summary)

“And the reason he’s on a vengeful mission to screw this town—literally—is some redheaded girl who got murdered in the eighteenth century. So the two of you combined extrasensory forces for a telepathic time trip in hope of learning the identity of the redhead’s killer. Am I right?”

Yep, that’s pretty much it and I think that’s very essence of this book—or should be. But it was overpowered by sexual theme and absurd relationship of Sin and Dice. And don’t get me start with her cousin Pen, she alone is a good reason why I have this strong desire to burn the book!

I’m sorry if my words are a bit harsh. This isn’t personal. There are only few books I rated one star. But I really didn’t have the heart, the compassion to score it higher than one, because that wouldn’t be right. For honesty sake. But on the bright side, the writing is nice. I liked the eloquence of the book but the rest… not so much as you can see.
