Life Lately

I thought it was too late to post my first impression because a month had already passed. However, considering that Kimetsu no Yaiba hasn’t aired yet and Boku no Hero Academia only started last week, I reckon I’m still good! And if you read my previous post, I wasn’t in the best circumstances. Although I did manage to watch the premieres of some of these series, our situation turned for the worse, so I wasn’t able to continue. But as part of healing and moving on, I’m going back and picking them up again.

This season, I sampled several series, but most didn’t hold my interest beyond the first episode. Though I initially found them intriguing enough to add to my watchlist, but there wasn’t really that much going on, so off I dropped them like a hot potato!

Dropped List:

  • Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru: I thought the ‘regain their youth’ plot sounded like fun enough to watch, but meh, it was totally boring, and I didn’t like the character design as well as the animation.
  • Tadaima, Okaeri: One of my favorite BL manhwas is an omegaverse, so you don’t know how excited I was when I heard about this. But yeah, it was too saccharine for my taste.
  • Vampire Dormitory: I believe I’ve outgrown the Nakayoshi/Ribon-esque shoujo manga. It’s just not my cup of tea anymore.

On Hold:

  • Boukyaku Battery (TV): I was hoping for a compelling baseball manga/anime, but this wasn’t it. It intrigued me somewhat, but I’m not ready to dive into it just yet.
  • Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai: The intriguing premise caught my attention, but the delayed streaming prevented me from giving it a try. I might pick it up in the future.

Currently Watching:

  • Boku no Hero Academia 7th Season: It’s a given, I’m watching this.
  • Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai: Honestly, I’m close to dropping this. But what’s up with shoujo manga these days and all FMCs just wanna keep all their thoughts inside? It’s like the narrative is 90% monologue; no wonder the basic premise of their conflict is a big ol’ misunderstanding. I’ll give it a bit more time to see if I can push through!
  • Kaijuu 8-gou: I’m genuinely enjoying this series. Despite expecting a different protagonist, given his age (he’s 32), he’s surprisingly juvenile yet endearing. The plot is quite interesting!
  • Wind Breaker: At first, I didn’t expect much, but a town protected by what looked like delinquents? It sounded pretty out there, but the characters are just so likable that I’m willing to overlook the far-fetched storyline. And with Nakamura-san voicing another cool white-haired guy?! I’m totally sold!
