Watchlist

Gah! The first quarter of the year is over, meaning we’re in a new season again and a new list to watch! I have tons of series to watch this season, and I’m actually overwhelmed. *hides* I’m trying to schedule at least 2 shows per night, and maybe 3 on weekends! Spreading out the shows helps me keep up with them more religiously. Here’s my anime list for spring:

A quick recap of last season: I totally enjoyed the rest of my list, except for the two that I ended up dropping. I haven’t even started watching, but I have zero motivation to watch Tokyo Revengers: Seiya Kessen-hen. While Bungou Stray Dogs 4th Season completely lost me, I made it up to episode 5 and decided to stop from there. It’s just not worth it anymore. The rest was really enjoyable! The best surprises for me were Cool Doji Danshi and Blue Lock. I ended up loving the second half more than the first, with the former being the most adorable series I’ve ever watched! Awkward male friendship is the best! Boku no Hero Academia 6th Season was pretty serious, though I loved this arc because of Bakugou’s development! As for my female-oriented series like Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi, and Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! They were really nice to watch! I loved Koori Zokusei more than Tomo-chan, but both of them are good!

Now, *drumroll,* please! Here’s my spring list! And yes, that’s eleven series! Ambitious, definitely, but I’m hoping that I don’t drop anything from this lineup because I do like them, and some of them are series that I checked the manga out so I knew what I was getting into!

  • Jigokuraku – I read this before when it was just newly released in Jump+, but I totally forgot about it. But here’s hoping that the enthusiasm to pick up the manga will be back with anime airing now!
  • Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru – like Jigokuraku, I also tried reading the manga, but I think I never got more than 10 chapters! So far, so good! I wasn’t really mind-blown with both the episode and the animation, but I’m keeping my verdict for later. First impression? Not that impressive, but good enough!
  • Tengoku Daimakyou – quality animation! Gawd, Production IG, you can do this, but butchered Ballroom e Youkoso? Unforgivable! *coughs* but damn, the animation is so pretty, movie quality. I said this on Twitter, but you can appreciate this show just by the animation alone! The first episode barely gave anything away, not sure if that’s a good thing or not! So far, intriguing! I hope there are no more NSFW scenes, because they irritated me.
  • Skip to LoaferI read this series in 2019, and it was my favorite read of the month! I’m so happy with how carefully thought out the adaptation was! Yes, I can say that this early because the premiere made me gushing over how pretty it was! Super excited for the rest of the episodes!
  • Dr. Stone (Season 3) – Honestly, this is the last arc I read before I temporarily stopped reading the manga, so let’s see how it goes!
  • Otonari ni Ginga – from the author of Amaama to Inazuma—a series I really, really loved! I read the first few chapters of the series! Different vibe from his previous work, but I’m still seated! Author-san knows his magic when it comes to slice-of-life stories!
  • Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen – do I need to explain? Like really? It’s my most anticipated series of the season!
  • Ao no Orchestra – I haven’t read the manga, but maybe it will be like Mashiro no Oto; a series I didn’t like the manga but loved the anime!
  • Kanojo ga Koushakutei ni Itta Riyuu – I read the entirety of this webtoon series already; frankly, it isn’t really my favorite one. But I’m excited for the potential of this series: it may open the door for more webtoons (especially geared towards women/ladies) to anime in the future!
  • Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia – I saw this manga several times, and I even put it on my TBR, but lo and behold, it has anime now, so I guess I’ll be watching it instead!
  • Oshi no Ko – honestly, the whole premise was intriguing! The animation in the trailer is really good! I think those two reasons are enough reasons to watch it! I do have expectations; hopefully it meets them!
  • Niehime to Kemono no Ou – I’m not sure, but I think I read the manga before and then stopped and forgot about it (like 99% of the series I read), so I do have some knowledge of what it is about, so why not watch?

And there you have it! *wipes sweat* Pretty long list, but I’m totes excited!
