Some of them are still alive…& I have so many questions!
I’m itching to do some quick review of the series, All of Us are Dead (지금 우리 학교는)! First thing first, I’m not a big fan of zombie fiction. When I was still a huge YA books connoisseur, I tried almost all paranormal, fictitious creatures ever made all thanks to Twilight massive popularity but zombies? I stayed away as much as possible, as gore is not my thing (before…I guess)! But all I’m hearing is about kids in this zombie-fested school and my curiosity somehow got piqued!
Anyway, I marathon this for 5 days I think (after I watched Mr. Queen (철인왕후)—which was pretty wholesome but too bad “cooking” aspect didn’t pan out); I digress, so yeah I finished it last night while it started big, it simmered towards the end. I found the last ep pretty underwhelming. And by the end of the ep 12, I found myself more confused.
- 1. I’m not gonna question why they’ve decided to waltz in to ground zero weaponless
(like the 3 days they were running & hiding for their lives, didn’t they learn from experience not to be that careless?) but why go there still? So they could see Nam-Ra? so it’ll pave way to a possible sequel, that’s lazy writing. - Cheong-san death is both conclusive and not; he could be dead—um, deader? and even if making a shield out of Gwi-nam helped him withstand the explosion that isn’t enough…but the name-tag was too clean compare to the ashes around? So…yeah.
- I hoped Gwi-nam died already the first time he was thrown out from the rooftop. His character’s purpose was done at that point! but you know what’s better?
- If Gwi-nam & the girl he bullied met and battle-royale it out. That would been an expensive way to die (the second time) by the hands of the person you thought was weak!
- It was kind frustrating to watch them hammering down zombies thousand times wasting their energy when all it take is slice/stab on the neck, that would killed these things forever! One of the first things you should know about your enemy is their weakness & how to exploit it. There was a reason why even though the toilet group was outnumbered they lasted longer w/ their group intact (before their rendezvous that is)!
- So many characters build up with lackluster ending. The girl w/ the pink sweater for one, the archer’s younger bro Wu-jin, the teen mom (I’m done questioning her & the baby’s purpose in the story…), even the science teacher.
- The detective’s part became somewhat comedic when he held a very serious info!
- Nam-ra was super un-utilized (is this even a word?)
- On-jo was super frustrating to watch!
- Hambies!!! (are they like ghouls now? what triggered this mutation? their will to live? so many questions guyssss!!!)
Shout-out to our local film, Block Z because that’s the first thing that came to mind when they said “zombie-infested school” (but AoUaD has more budget )
