Reaper by Rachel Vincent
Title: Reaper (A Soul Screamer Novella)
Author: Rachel Vincent
Pages: 72 (pdf format)
Repear is as novella, a companion book of the Soul Screamers series. This is about Tod’s story of how he died and how he was recruited to become a reaper.
This is a free book (according to Rachel Vincent’s blog it’s free for some time, in her latest post she provided link where you can download the ebook). It’s only 72 pages but I’m not bother that much (some people are whining about it) but I’m happy that it given some light to Tod’s death.
You know what’s the great thing about this book? My two favorite characters are here – Levi and Tod. Reading this after the whole Nash drama kinda added my irk feelings toward him. When I found out that he was meant to died (now I know both him and Kaylee are living in a borrowed time) and Tod sacrificed his life for him (is he great, oh my gosh I love him too much after this) I just ‘oh-man-you’re-not-suppose-to-die’ and put the blame to his irresponsible brother (though Tod also share some of it) but to correct his fault he decided to let the reaper (the ever cute Levi) have his life instead. It turns out Levi has been watching him because he thought Tod is a possible candidate for he reaper position (which Levi was right for he is one now). Tod narrating the story is really fun. He is really a funny guy. I guess I’m not going to say more about the plot. It’s just a quick read but I suggest reading it after you have read the books in the series. This will be confusing, I think, for a newbie.
This is a novella that’s worth reading. It’s not like Bree’s story from Twilight. I mean, why her? Who cares about her? But this one, Tod is important, a novella like this is essential to understand the story. I wish Stephanie Meyer chosen other character to highlight not someone who’s forgettable.
