Title: Perfect You

If I can describe this book in a few words, I’m not gonna hesitate to tell that “this book annoy the hell out of me.” The book cover, the summary, everything was misleading. It’s not the romance novel I assumed it’ll be (and I thought this one is, with the cheesy title and all). Don’t get me wrong, I’m not overly romantic person. I love stories that doesn’t have anything to do with romance. It’s more of a family drama kinda thing (which is ok). Since it focus more on her relationship with her family. But if making out and telling the guy to back off when in fact you are lusting over him is romance to you, then this book is perfect for you (no pun intended, and I don’t do recommendation).

Kate is the most sarcastic (in a bad way) female lead I ever encounter. She still hopes for her best friend who become popular after a “summer miracle” (she lost weight, dye her hair, making her the blond bimbo (some word I pick up from Perfect Chemistry) and ignores her like she doesn’t exist. I was kinda annoyed that she didn’t get the message, that her so called friend is not interested in her anymore. The guy is someway, ok. Kate isn’t, I feel like the guy deserves more than her. I don’t like overly dramatic teen. Yes, because Kate thinks her life is miserable because her dad is selling vitamins and she work after school. Yeah, right *roll eyes* living in a third world country (where poverty is everywhere) and reading this fictional girl yapping about misery gets in to my nerves.

You know what annoys me the most, I finished the book (maybe because it was eerily resembles my dysfunctional family (most of time it’s not but I see similarities) and I’m kinda like Kate and Todd smashed together). Sometimes, I don’t understand why I like to torture myself, argh. Her dad is obviously selfish and irresponsible so is his brother. Her mother is too dense, giving in to her husband’s caprices. The only character that I really like is her grandmother. She is the only who makes sense in this book.

If I can rate it a negative score I really will. But my sister said that giving a book 1 star means you hate it. For all it’s worth, this book is a complete let down.
