Life Lately

I wouldn’t like to paint the month as bad because, personally, it wasn’t. Even though the first day left me restless and upset over my health and lack of sleep, the days slowly got better not until some dude from the West decided to start a war to hide his crimes! And just like that, our already sh*tty economy got even worse than it already is. Men are not really good leaders.

😮‍💨 so shall we start then,

not great, not terrible but just… a lot?

Life Lately

  • That disruptive cough. I mentioned this in my last recap, but yeah, the month started with me coughing every five minutes, which completely wrecked my sleep. It was worse because it felt involuntary; even when I tried to ignore it, my body just wouldn’t cooperate. Being ill and sleep-deprived is not a good combo for my sanity. So even though I had already consulted online, I still went to the hospital the next day for a proper check. They suspected probable pneumonia, so I had to go through some lab tests for evaluation. Thankfully, everything came back normal. I just had to continue my original prescription, though some meds had their dosage doubled. Slowly, day by day, I got better, and sleep became easier again. It did linger longer than expected though, so I’m still not sure what I caught—but one thing’s for sure: it left me terrified and a bit traumatized.
  • These uncertain times. We did say we’d go slow with travel, but now it’s probably shelved indefinitely. Good thing we didn’t book anything and decided to wait it out. Times are really trying these days. I hate how little control we have over the situation, all because some man was caught indulging in absolutely sick crimes! 🤬 Now we all suffer: oil prices are soaring astronomically, and there’s barely anything we can do because most of what we can do is just for our own survival. But what about those who had almost nothing to begin with? Men shouldn’t have this much power. War doesn’t only kill with weapons, it kill people even from miles away. And the resources used to fund this madness? Completely wasted. Why is no one doing anything about this? How are we letting US and Israel affect us this much?
  • I wanna stop doom scrolling. Most of what I see online just rage-baits me into a tiny fireball of anger, and I’ve had enough. So I decided to read more (or reread) and rewatch anime instead. I rewatched Tokyo Ghoul, and it gave me such a nostalgic feeling—I was obsessed with that series a decade ago. I’m also rewatching Jujutsu Kaisen, and noticing all the little things I missed before has been fun! I also got reacquainted with Netflix because I just marathoned the One Piece live-action, and I must say, it’s so much better than the first season. The scale felt massive—like, literally. I’ll probably pick up a book soon (either finish the one I’ve been stuck on or start a new one), just to cut down on the endless scrolling. I don’t want my attention span to deteriorate any further.
  • The design is not giving anymore? I was so excited about the new design, and now that it’s on my staging site… it’s just…well, I’m just not feeling it anymore? I liked it as a static template, but once I applied it to the actual site and added the ā€œglam,ā€ it didn’t hit the same way it did in my head? Now I’m not sure if I should salvage it or move on entirely. I have to admit, my enthusiasm has definitely slowed down. I feel like I’ve love the current design for so much that I still can’t let it go after five years. But we’ll see—I do want a refresh, but I don’t want it to feel forced or artificial just because I want something new. Still, my current design is pretty, and I really love it… so maybe this is just separation anxiety.

April Agenda

  • Birthday galore. Birthday season is here: starting with my nephew and my youngest sister. It’ll probably just be simple birthday dinners since, like I said, times are uncertain and we’re stretching the budget as much as we can.
  • That thing I need to learn about. Some vague adult responsibility I’ve been putting off. It’s gotten more troublesome because the service I used to rely on is no longer available, so now I have to learn everything from scratch and do it manually. Ugh. It’s free, sure, but the hassle, plus my tendency to mess things up, is giving me anxiety.
  • To go or not to go. There’s an anime event happening this month that I’ve been eyeing. Usually, cons here are very cosplay-heavy, which I’m not super into. I’m more of a casual anime and manga fan, but I do like the titles they’re showcasing. I might drag my equally casual weeb sister with me! But we shall still see!
  • Praying for a not-so-dry season. Summer is here in our tropical country, and I’m just hoping the heat and humidity won’t be too intense—something at least tolerable, especially with prices projected to rise. I’m also a bit worried about blackouts, but I’m really hoping it doesn’t come to that. Just trying to survive out here.

And that’s it! Praying for just the right amount of sun, and a more peaceful April for everybody on this one Earth we’re all living in. 💛✨🔆
