Title: Love on the Lifts
Author: Rachel Hawthorne
Pages: 301

I’ve been reading a lot of supernatural and sometimes you need a break from this, I might withdraw from reality if I didn’t stop reading these kinds of books. So I try those cute romance stories by Harper Teens and Rachel Hawthorne’s books top the list.

Love on Lifts is one of Rachel Hawthorne’s books that kinda attracted me first, I love the cover of her books, and it’s cute and bubbly, definitely something fun to read. When I was searching for the books and reading the summary, I really don’t get it, well, because it isn’t actually a summary and I need to read blogs to find out what the story is. I don’t like to gamble, I may not like spoilers but I don’t want to be completely unknowledgeable of the book I’m about to read.

So getting back to the story, Kate with her friends spends their winter vacation on snowy mountains but her brother crashed their vacation and they needed to share the condo with his friends. It’s not completely unlucky though because Brad, her brother’s friend is with them which she’s been crushing ever since she met him. Her friends are also kind enough to help her. But before things even started for them, Brad was attracted to another girl leaving her kinda brokenhearted (it isn’t exactly love, you know). Joe, another friend of her brother seems to like her but because she has still feelings for Brad, things between them had been overlooked. But the more they spend time together, the more Kate realizes that she and Joe have a lot in common. That she might have feelings for him.

This book is really fast and like I said, easy read. There’s nothing mysterious here, just cute teenage romance. I really like how Kate and Joe relationship develop, sometimes we fail to notice things because we focus on one thing (I’m not really talking about priorities here). I love the part where Kate asking Joe who the girl he likes and it was totally naïve of her to see that Joe is talking about her, haha. If pinning you down in the snow, looking at you straight in the eye and giving comments like ‘it’s-stupid-the-other-guy-didn’t-notice-you’ still didn’t ring any bells, you’ll probably denser than… water? But you know naïve girls are kinda cute, I mean, I already experienced when a guy like me and I thought he’s just being nice but I was so young then, how should I know? So somehow I can’t blame her, maybe it’s just an issue with my age. I also like she decided to weigh things, sorting her feelings. I’m really happy when she realized that Joe had like her from the very fisrt time he met her. Those clues might be subtle but left a lasting impression on him. If that small things left a mark, you know he is serious. The story is really cute.
