‘Learn to live alongside cringe’ and so, I shall! thanks Taylor! Cake day part 2!
It took a lot of self-convincing for me to put that “random” posts section to my old blog posts! ♪ ‘Cos you know, I ain’t a great writer and some of these posts don’t necessarily resonate with me anymore (like how big shoujo manga fan I was, or that I would not pick up Bleach ever, or the many posts about scheduling, etc, etc!) but you know what, life is all about changes! I’m bound to change my mind, so yeah, lemme still put the section there so I can cringe retrospectively— OK, that’s half true!
But the most cringe worthy about my older posts were my ever disappointing and persistent grammar mistakes and childish tone (not that these aspects have improved but it was worse before…me thinks?) The titles—oooh so badly conceptualized, the features that quickly came and went, and just the overall randomness of my posts! But by the time I hit my 30 or around 2017, I slowed down a bit and planned my topics ahead (like Taylor, I have my very own vault). I guess I matured a tiny bit.
Did I improve? I definitely hope so. But you know, these posts are fun to read. Sometimes, when I randomly visit my blog or update it, I can’t help click the random posts that pop up and I smile whenever I read some of them—cringe mostly, but I’m happy to see them preserved and accessible. Like I said in this post, which still rings true until today, I’ve decided not to delete my posts for nostalgia and not to waste the effort I put into it (though the quality didn’t exactly reflect, there was definitely an effort to create them!)
No matter how hard you try to avoid being cringe, you will look back on your life and cringe retrospectively,
— Taylor Swift
And these wise words from Taylor Swift aren’t just for “blogging”, some pieces of myself—of my life were documented somehow and they are littered in these posts! So yeah, whenever I look back, I cringe so hard but largely pleased that I made this far and I’m still continuing this journey for twelve years (and more)! I can’t avoid cringe so I might as well be proud of it?
