Title: Fallen
Author: Lauren Kate
Pages: 452

While I tried to shun away from fallen angels theme book (after the disappointment that is Hush, Hush) but I just can’t help trying this one out (that’s what I hate about myself, inconsistency). Plus, the book cover is really pretty, so intriguing. I was actually starting Mortal Instrument the other night but that book has too much going on (I mean slapped every literary creature in one book). Too much for me to handle. But I’m not completely disregarding it; I’ll read in the future. It’s an interesting book, at least that’s what Stephanie Meyer said. I mean she is one of those people who convinced me to read HG (when I saw her name at the back of the book raving about it). So usually I like what she recommends.

Going back to Fallen, compared to Hush Hush, this one is better (way better). The characters are likable (contrary to HH, I hate all the characters there). Luce, for me is a good female lead. Yes, she is the same passive, damsel in distress prototype but I really don’t care. I think her character was executed properly. And the boys (yes, they are two of them what a treat) they are both great (I’m team Cam by the way). I really thought I’ll fall for Daniel’s character because I always lean to the good boy (or the bad but misunderstood) type of male lead. But Cam’s character is more appealing, I don’t know why but how the author describe him is so alluring, even he is suppose to be the “too full of himself” kinda guy (which in my definition is a jerk). He is so irresistible and I can picture his green eyes and his black hair. Going back to reality, while I do believe in angels I don’t know why I separated my religious stand with this book. Perhaps, because the setting was a bit of (reform school for the hooligans) too fictional and I know that for a fact that I need to treat it as such. HH left a bad after taste that’s why any loopholes I see I immediately condemn it. I’m too sorry for the Luce when her mother shaved her hair. My mom wanted me to shave my hair too because it was too thick and frizzy (I used to have long straight hair) and she told me it will grow that way it was before. But never cross my mind to actually do it. I feel bad for her.

To wrap up, I like it. I like it a lot. I’m about to read Torment. I read books before I sleep (sometimes this hinder me to sleep). Disney got the rights for its movie adaptation. Hmmm… Disney. I hope they’re not going to butcher and tame it too much.
