Have you ever dear self??!!
In this special edition of the RainyInk ‘Lil Aniv Bash, I decided to amuse myself by answering some “Have You Ever” questions (an idea sparked while watching Ellen). And since it’s my blogging anniversary, I decided to center the questions around blogging.
Have you ever been jealous of other bloggers?
Besides that time when I boldly told everyone how I envy people who have a great command of the English language? None that I can think of. Oh, maybe that time when some bloggers received ARCs of Unravel Me. I confess I was green with envy because they were already reading the book I wanted so badly. So, so badly. I mean, normally I can wait, but that was the book I really, really wanted to read!
But as for huge jealousy over other bloggers’ accomplishments and whatnot? No, and seriously, I’m not the jealous type, to be honest. ;D
Have you ever had a fight with another blogger?
While I was brainstorming for the questions, I was told that “Have You Ever” should be bold and risky, haha. So I thought of this one. Well, onto the question: nope. I’m not really the confrontational type (it’s not really my personality); I value and respect others’ opinions, but I expect the same favor in return. I think it’s easy to misunderstand someone, especially online where you can’t easily pick up on their tone or intention. But we need to be very careful with the words we put out there.
Have you always been honest in your opinions (be it reviews, discussions, etc.)?
Yes, of course, but as I said above, I’m very careful with the words I put out there (without sacrificing my honest thoughts on the subject). I know there’s a chance my words might offend people, and that’s always something I try to avoid, though I know it’s sometimes inevitable. If I know I’m wrong, I’m brave enough to admit it. Knowing you’re wrong doesn’t make you less of a person. I agree that apologizing for your mistakes takes courage, and it sure does. I don’t like blowing things out of proportion.
But to me, the internet is so open that we sometimes forget to be responsible for our actions. I always think that we should police our own actions and words. With a great platform like the internet comes the risk of misuse, so we should be responsible with our words.
Have you ever thought of quitting?
Nope, not yet. I do occasionally experience slumps here and there, and I’m honest enough to admit that to myself. I don’t expect to always feel optimistic about blogging; I find that completely unrealistic. But for now, I don’t see myself quitting. Blogging has become such an integral part of my life that even if I’m tired from my day’s activities, I still make sure to give my blog some TLC.
