Title: Devoured
Author: Amanda Marrone
Pages: 304

I decided to try a YA supernatural book that isn’t part of a series. Angel Star and the Hollow series are quite intense (but very entertaining).

I wanted to try Uninvited first but I just see myself attracted more with Devoured. I haven’t read any vampire book aside from the Twilight series. And there are like thousand of vampires books out there and Uninvited is one of them (I don’t know why but it is a little turn off if I found out it’s a vampire book). But that genre is really selling like hot pancakes, gonna seize the moment, right?

Getting back to Devoured, the story is a Snow White satire with a modern twist which for me is quite new. I heard (and read) lots of Cinderella story but I only came across other fairy tales princess quite rarely. Anyway, the story is about Megan. Nine years ago she, her twin sister and his father caught in an accident. His twin sister Remy died and his father in a comatose. Flash forward nine years after, she decided to take a summer job in Land of Enchantment to eye on his boyfriend Nick. But during her stay in the park, she saw her sister Remy and she is warning her of a possible danger. No one can see Remy but her until Luke, a guy working in the park also saw her. He has… psychic power (for the lack of better term) and also an empath. With Luke’s help they’ll try to decipher Remy hunting message.

In a word, the book is absolutely gory. It’s a bit creepy but enjoyable. It was entertaining at some point and also refreshing since you don’t come across with Snow White in a gory fashion plot that often. There’s nothing much to say than the book is good, a fast read but not really remarkable. I completely forgotten about it and I have just read it 3 days ago. I just need to read a book with no string attached that’s what Devoured is – what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of book.
