Watchlist

After that lackluster summer season, a new wave of amazing series has finally come my way this fall! Honestly, I found Oshi no Ko (Second Season) completely boring, and it didn’t help that I wasn’t into that arc from the start. My general interest in it is fizzling out, especially with the direction the plot is heading. And while MHA is good and all, I believe there’s only one season left after this. I think they can squeeze everything into a 13-episode season because there isn’t much left to cover.

So yeah, that’s my quick summer season report. Moving into fall means new anime to watch! There are new series I want to try, plus second seasons of shows I religiously follow! From just two series last season, I’m now anticipating eight new ones this fall! I’m pretty excited!

  • Dandadan – I watched the first episode last night, and honestly, I’m confused. I thought it would be a wackier version of Mob Psycho 100, but it’s really out there. A guy who doesn’t believe in the occult and a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens dare each other, only to discover both exist, which unlocks their supernatural abilities! I get the gist, but wow, I was lost! Haha! It’s not boring, but the first episode didn’t wow me. Proceeding with caution.
  • Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan – I enjoyed the first season, even though it’s not your typical sports anime. But who am I to complain about bishounen battling it out in this weird football series? Definitely not me!
  • Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen – Soukoku-tan – I hope the plot improves because last season was a total snooze-fest for me. I have no idea what’s coming, but I’m just hoping for more plot development (and more Ichigo) this time around.
  • Ao no Hako – My first impression? Envy! The animation is so pretty, something I wished for Kono Oto Tomare. It’s a shounen romance series, and I’m not usually great with that demo-genre fusion, but so far, the story looks good enough to keep following.
  • Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri 2nd Season – Some episodes were hit and miss, but the quirky, lovable characters (Amano Akira’s strong suit) keep me hooked. More of Ron Kamonohashi is never a bad thing!
  • Raise wa Tanin ga Ii – MY MOST ANTICIPATED SERIES! This is my current fave manga! But I’m conflicted because I heard the author and the animation production didn’t exactly get along. And based on the trailer, they’ve almost reached the latest arc, which they means they crammed it into a 12-episode season. I’m nervous but hopeful—the animation doesn’t look bad, though I’m not the biggest Studio Deen fan. Approaching this with just the right amount of excitement and caution.
  • Hoshifuru Oukoku no Nina – If you check my reading list, I’m more of a romance-fantasy fan. There are several series this season with that theme, but the plot of this one—where a girl pretends to be a deceased princess—caught my attention! I haven’t read the manga, but if it’s good, I might check it out!
  • Goukon ni Ittara Onna ga Inakatta Hanashi – A goukon where all the “guys” are actually girls. Enough said!

That’s my list! I hope they’re good, and fingers crossed, I don’t end up dropping any!
