Life Lately

I’m behind schedule. April was kinda jam-packed, and the weather definitely added to me not wanting to move at all. There were also so many changes in my routine and around the house too. But I guess I have to get into the details now that I finally have a breather.

AC, Anime, Conventions, and Other April Shenanigans!

Life Lately

  • Bigger reno than we thought. So we’ve been mulling over installing AC in our room, and with the summer of 2024 still very fresh in our minds, we decided to just go ahead with it. It definitely put a dent in my savings, but we just had to bite the bullet. Our room needed to be sealed off first since it’s mezzanine-style and shared by me and my two sisters, so it’s pretty much a wreck right now haha. Slowly but surely, though.
  • We kinda accidentally spring-cleaned too. So yeah, with our room being wrecked and the layout changing, we decided to do some decluttering too. We’ve accumulated so many clothes over the years, and we’ll end up giving a lot of them away. We decided to make it a yearly thing to account for our clothes and let go of what we no longer use. Our tiny house just can’t handle that much stuff.
  • Letting go of my old workstation desk and chair. My chair has been with me since 2011. It’s an old plastic chair that’s surprisingly comfy, but it has definitely seen better days, so it’s time to let it go. Mind you, it’s still sturdy and strong, but alas, it’s ugly now, very yellow, and impossible to clean haha. My old work table also had to go since it was attached to the wall, and with the reno, I had to let it go too. I’m still not sure if I should buy a normal work table or a standing one since money’s tight right now. What to do?
  • My second anime convention in a long while—maybe a decade? So yes, I mentioned this on Twitter, but my sister and I went to OtakuPopFes last April 25. What encouraged me were the title booths from series I know and love: Tokyo Revengers, Spy Ă— Family, Naruto, Sakamoto Days, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and The Apothecary Diaries. They also had photo booths for Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba too! My sister and I had fun, and since it was all indoor activities, everything was swell. I got some good loot that day too haha.
  • Birthdays. So yeah, my second nephew’s birthday and my little sister’s birthday happened too, and we kinda indulged a bit. So yeah, my pocket has run dry, and then the reno happened too, so well… money can be earned again, so gotta work, work, work.
  • All anime, all day.My mom doesn’t want to watch TV anymore, so no one’s hogging it but me. I’ve been marathoning anime as a way to regain my focus because scrolling has really been detrimental to my attention span. I just finished Piano no Mori and Mashle (loved it, surprisingly such a fun series!). I’m now rewatching Attack on Titan, and man, all those little details. It’s fun to rewatch it with complete knowledge of the series. Hajime Isayama really deserves credit for how amazing he plotted everything. He knew his story so well that you can catch glimpses of it even from the very beginning. Man, he’s such a good writer. Also, no more words for my spring line-up so better check it here.

May Agenda

  • Mother’s Day treat. Even though I’m a bit on a tight budget, of course we’re still going to celebrate Mother’s Day. Even though I rant about our very different views in life, she’s still very giving and always loves to indulge us with food and little things.
  • Our sub-parent’s birthday. You know what they say about eldest daughters. My super amazing ate’s birthday is coming up (or as we fondly call her, Dai-nesama). She’s busy and currently in a situation that is physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing. I pray that God gives her strength to face these circumstances. Only the best in life for her.
  • Continue cleaning. Again, our room still looks pretty disastrous, so we have to keep cleaning and organizing stuff. I’m currently looking for things for my new workstation too. Also, with the walls bare now, it looks pretty lonely. Sigh. Money, where art thou? Good thing we have no travel plans this year.

And that’s it! I pray for a good May ahead for all of us, and maybe a little less humid and hot weather for us here! 🌿🧺🌼
