Journal/Blog

One and a half decades is no joke, alright! I have blogged about a ton of things, shared so much, and the fact that it never gets old or tiring still amazes me. Even though the internet landscape is completely different now, I’m still here, still blogging.

I’ll admit, I once lowkey chased numbers and stats, but what really motivates me is having a space I can truly call my own. Especially now, when social media run by big corporations dominates everything. Sometimes integrity is even in question (like, are these thoughts yours or just hatched by AI?). So many things have changed in the past 15 years, yet here I am, still growing in this lovely thing called blogging.

Today I’m sharing the 15 reasons why I still love blogging. ✨🌱 It might sound old-school to some, like, “what even is a blog?” or “do people still read them?” I do! And I love this way of sharing my thoughts. I’m a chronic storyteller who loves pouring out her thoughts the old-fashioned way.

1. Having a place to spew all my nonsense & intrusive thoughts

A platform where I can dump everything in my own space with no restrictions is one of the biggest pros of keeping a blog. I’m a big yapper with constant thoughts swirling around (this comes from someone who grew up writing in her diary). Typing just makes it easier for me, so here we are.

2. Fangirling in my own personal space

Sure, I tweet quick reactions about my faves and whatnots, but having my own space to fangirl freely, to just talk and talk without worrying if anyone’s listening, that’s my jam. It’s so cathartic to pour my guts out about the things I love, new series, the latest episodes, or random fangirl outbursts. This space serves all that, and I love it.

3. Watching my post count grow

It’s wild to see how many posts I’ve written over the years. Thousands! Every new post gives me that little spark of satisfaction, like, “Yup, I just published something new.” That feeling never gets old.

4. Old posts as time capsules

I love looking back at old posts and realizing where I was in life when I wrote them. Even if I don’t share every detail, revisiting those entries always takes me back. It’s nostalgic and a sweet reminder of how much I’ve grown. That’s why I mostly blog for myself.

5. Learning to write better

This was actually my original reason for blogging, to become a better writer, especially in English. My writing used to be rough, but through blogging I learned to express myself more clearly (at least in writing). And even now, improving my writing is still part of why I keep doing it.

6. Experimenting with design and layout

This one’s close to my heart. Designing my blog space to make it truly mine is something I’ve always loved. Every color, layout, and element was chosen by me. It’s like crafting my own little corner of the internet that reflects my personality. I just love it.

7. Rereading old posts and surprising myself

Sometimes I reread old posts, especially personal ones, and end up laughing or cringing at younger me. But it’s always fulfilling, like rediscovering a piece of myself frozen in time. It’s fun to see how far I’ve come.

8. My monthly wrap-ups

If there’s one thing consistent on my blog, it’s my monthly wrap-ups. Even when I barely post, I always make sure to write them. They’re mostly for me, a way to document where I was and how I felt that month.

9. Blogging evolves with me

My blog has gone through so many phases, and each shift reflects how I was growing as a person. Every redesign or content change lines up with who I was then and who I am now. It’s amazing to see my evolution in blog form.

10. The freedom

Social media is fun, but blogging is way more fun for me, especially as an introvert. There are no rules except mine. No gatekeepers, no algorithms. Just me and my words. That’s the best feeling.

11. My little “in the moment” obsessions

Sure, social media captures quick thoughts, but my blog documents my “ATM” (at-the-moment) obsessions in detail. It’s hilarious looking back at my past fixations. I love that there’s actual evidence of my old obsessive eras.

12. Capturing my state of mind in words

When I reread old posts, I sometimes realize I’m no longer as passionate about certain things, and that’s fascinating. It shows growth. We change, our opinions shift, and my blog captures all of that evolution perfectly.

13. One of my favorite hobbies

Reading might be my top pastime, but blogging is right up there too. It’s a hobby that keeps giving because of everything I’ve mentioned above. I just love it.

14. The act of blogging itself

Sometimes my family sees me typing furiously (my mechanical keyboard echoes through the whole room), but honestly, I love it. Watching my post come alive word by word is so satisfying. Some people express through photos or videos, but mine will always be through words. I’m a chronic yapper, and blogging gives my words a home. Plus, after all these years of typing away, I’d like to think my English has improved a lot.

15. The fact that I still want to do it

After 15 years, the fact that I’m still here writing means the love never faded. It keeps blooming, evolving, and growing with me through every phase of life, even after trends have come and gone.

And that’s exactly why I still love blogging after all these years, and why I’ll keep doing it for many more to come.
